Mentor Digital was extremely proud to be chosen as the web partner for Shaw Trust, one of the UK’s top charities, an appointment built on our strong digital credentials in the charity sector.
Every year the Shaw Trust works with over 75,000 people who face huge challenges due to disability, ill health or social circumstances, supporting them to prepare for work, find jobs and live more independently.
Accessibility was therefore the primary criteria for the website, as the Shaw Trust aims to meet the highest standards in accessibility. This website has been designed and developed in accordance with the British Standards Institution’s BS8878:2010 standard and the Shaw Trust's own Accessibility Services. As part of the project the website was reviewed and tested by accessibility experts and disabled testers. A full accessibility audit was conducted in January 2013 and the website met Web Content Authoring Guidelines Level 2.0 (AA).
This challenging project was incredibly satisfying, explains Mentor’s MD Holland Risley: “Shaw Trust is a fantastic organisation, who we were thrilled to work with to create a well-designed, accessible new site, which really delivers on all of their key needs”.
Niki Torkington, Head of Corporate Communications for Shaw Trust
“I am very pleased to be working with Mentor Digital on the development of the new website. While our demands for the agency are broad, we also have specific user needs, particularly around accessibility, so we looked for an agency who could demonstrate a good understanding of the complexity involved, and Mentor’s experience in this area is a clear asset to the project.”
