To date Mentor Digital has produced over 20 vodcasts for Magnox's Oldbury Nuclear Power Station. The vodcasts are part of an on-going project aimed at improving internal communications between the management team and the 450 plus staff (many of whom work 24 hour shifts) to ensure everyone is aware of events on site as the station enters its decommissioning phase.
Shot in HDV and in various locations, our flexibility has been a key asset in the production of these vodcasts. The vodcasts themselves have been on a variety of subjects from Health and Safety, HR and power outage to biodiversity, charity work and in-depth profiles of senior staff. Each vodcast is shot in a different way depending on who is talking and what message we want to get across. Some of the vodcasts include a presenter, who is a trained broadcast journalist and some are based on footage of work in action and key processes.
Safety and security are also key factors when working for a nuclear power station and all Mentor Digital's crew and equipment had to pass strict security checks. Mentor Digital also created a microsite to run on Magnox's internal servers and host the videos. The microsite included monitored feedback and comments section as well as background information on the videos subject.
The vodcast project has been extremely well received internally and in 2010 it won a CIPR PRide award for 'Best use of Digital PR'.
