Cookie Consent Management Services

Our cookie consent management services cover everything from platform selection and CMP implementation through to ongoing compliance monitoring, so you can collect data confidently, compliantly, and without gaps that undermine reporting and decision making.

Getting consent right isn’t just a legal obligation. It’s the foundation your entire analytics and advertising stack is built on.

The hidden complexities of cookie consent management

Most organisations understand they need a cookie banner. Fewer appreciate how much can go wrong between having one and having one that actually works.

A cookie consent management platform (CMP) is responsible for capturing, storing, and communicating user consent preferences to every tag and tracking script on your site. If it’s not implemented correctly – or if it’s not properly integrated with your tag management setup – you’ll end up in one of two places: either firing tags before consent is given (a compliance risk), or blocking tags even when consent has been granted (an analytics and revenue risk).

Under UK GDPR and PECR, failing to manage consent correctly can result in ICO enforcement action and significant fines. More immediately, it means the data behind your marketing and business decisions could be incomplete, inaccurate, or inadmissible in a compliance audit.

Add to that the increasing sophistication of consent requirements, such as Google’s Consent Mode v2, the IAB TCF framework for programmatic advertising, and the ongoing evolution of privacy legislation across the UK and EU, and it’s clear that cookie consent management is a discipline in itself, not an afterthought.

What good CMP implementation looks like

There’s a wide gap between deploying a cookie management platform and deploying it well. A CMP that’s been properly implemented will:

  • Accurately categorise every cookie and script on your site by purpose (strictly necessary, functional, analytics, marketing).

  • Present consent choices clearly, without dark patterns or pre-ticked boxes that invalidate consent under UK GDPR.

  • Pass consent signals correctly to Google Tag Manager, so tags only fire when – and to the extent that – users have consented.

  • Support Google Consent Mode v2 (both basic and advanced modes), enabling GA4 and Google Ads to model conversions for users who decline consent, rather than losing that data entirely.

  • Store a verifiable consent record that can be produced in the event of a regulatory audit or data subject request.

  • Be kept up to date as your site changes so that these are reflected in your CMP configuration.

Getting all of this right requires a working understanding of both the legal landscape and the technical infrastructure of your site. That’s where specialist cookie consent management services make the difference.

What our cookie consent management services include

From initial site audits and platform selection to technical integration and long-term compliance monitoring, we deliver end-to-end cookie consent management tailored to your tech stack and regulatory requirements.

Google Consent Mode: what it means for your data

Google Consent Mode became a requirement for advertisers using Google Ads and GA4 in March 2024. It’s worth understanding what it does, and why a proper CMP implementation is essential to making it work correctly.

When a user declines cookies, standard tag blocking means Google has no visibility of that user’s behaviour, which creates gaps in conversion data and limits the effectiveness of Google Ads features such as smart bidding. Consent Mode addresses this by allowing Google to collect cookieless, anonymised pings for users who haven’t consented, which it uses to model estimated conversions and fill in the gaps in your reporting.

Advanced Consent Mode goes further, enabling GA4 to model user journeys even for users who have declined consent, giving you a more accurate picture of overall performance without compromising individual privacy.

None of this works without a CMP that’s correctly integrated with your Google Tag Manager setup and passing the right consent signals to Google’s tags. If you’re running Google Ads or relying on GA4 for conversion reporting and you’re not sure whether your Consent Mode implementation is correct, it’s worth getting it checked by a specialist.

Who we work with

Our cookie consent management services suit a wide range of organisations, but they’re particularly valuable for those where data accuracy and compliance are business-critical rather than a nice-to-have.

That includes ecommerce businesses where gaps in conversion tracking directly affect ROAS and bidding performance, regulated sectors where demonstrating GDPR compliance is part of routine governance, organisations that have recently launched a new website or migrated platforms without reviewing their consent setup, and marketing teams who are increasingly aware that their analytics data doesn’t add up but aren’t sure why.
