4 – Content is king

Fresh regularly updated keyword rich content, such as expert advice, blog entries and articles will boost your website. People search the internet for information.  Your site should focus on providing information rather than telling people how good you are.  Good quality content will tell your visitors that you are the expert in your field much more effectively than self promotion.

  • Add a blog to your site
  • Design for visitors. Not for the search engines
  • Make your website content simple, clear and easy to understand
  • Publish content on articles sites such as ezinearticles.com. Make sure the content is keyword rich and include a single link to your site at the bottom of the article with your keywords.

5 – Email Gathering and newsletters

  •  Build up a database of email addresses
  • “Squeeze” potential clients email addresses out of them at every opportunity
  • Offer a sign up for newsletter form
  • Offer some free content in return for your user entering their email address
  • When you send newsletters to your client, soften your sales messages with content that your clients may find useful, such as links to your recent expert articles
  • Avoid the spam box by including a text version and unsubscribe link and avoid salesy terms

6 – Google Local

Google Local is a great way to get yourself to the top of the organic listings on the Google search results.

  • Create a Google Local listing for your company.

6 – Communicate with your users: Social Networking – Facebook and Twitter

  • Facebook Connect, users can log in to your site using their Facebook profile
